What is UV radiation?
UV-A, UV-B and UV-C, the role of vitamin D and calcium, and what sets the Osram Ultra-Vitalux apart from an ordinary lamp.
What UV radiation is
Ultraviolet rays are components of sunlight that the eye cannot perceive. Depending on the wavelength range, they are divided into UV-A, UV-B and UV-C rays.
In moderation, UV rays are indispensable for the organism. They stimulate the formation of vitamin D in the skin. Among other things, the vitamin ensures that calcium, an important mineral for building bones and teeth, can be absorbed from feed. Inflammatory processes are also inhibited and the general wellbeing of horses is promoted.
Osram Ultra-Vitalux
The Ultra-Vitalux UV lamp produces a mixture of radiation that closely resembles natural solar radiation and, like it, can exert the effects vital to the organism of various animal species. This mixture of radiation is produced by a quartz burner and a tungsten filament coil. The special-glass bulb lets the same share of radiation take effect outwardly that is also contained in natural sunlight.

Frequently asked questions.
What does the horse need UV light for, and which unit has UV lamps?
In moderation, UV radiation stimulates the formation of vitamin D in the skin, which in turn enables the absorption of calcium for bones and teeth, and it inhibits inflammatory processes. The Solaride Easy works purely with infrared, without UV; the Easy Plus has two UV lamps as standard; the Profi is available with four UV lamps.
